[quote="slangman"]We just need to concentrate on winning and nothing else.
Let the others expend their energy in hypothesising the matchup possibilities.

We’re on a mission to win a premiership which will require us to win three consecutive games against very good opposition to achieve that.

Happy to bring in Freddy, to bust some doper bodies up, but... somebody posted that he got injured during the VFL game just gone, although I haven't seen anything to validate that on official website?
Sadly, I think the only body Freddy would bust up would be his own.
Reported on BF that he injured his shoulder during the VFL game.

OK, I have not read the first few pages, but can someone please tell me what needs to happen exactly for us to have THE best possible chance or scenario for a shot at a flag.

Our task to win the flag is simple.

Win handsomely on Friday night (to regain the mojo)

Then win three finals.

I think that for the first final we go back to some elements that worked brilliantly early in the year:

Nick Daicos (yes- he will play the first week of finals) to half back flank AND to take every kick-in.

Moore to full-back- makes every other defensive player better.

Howe- is the steady hand in the back half- must play there.

Mitchell- must rotate (frequently) with Adams at half-forward.

Pendles- in the guts as centreman.

De Goey- 80% of time on ball.

Ginnivan/McCreery/Elliott and Hill as small forwards

Hoskin-Elliott or McInnes as sub

Horses for courses with the Cox/Cameron duo- both must play against Gawn, for example...

Regain the ferocious forward pressure

Rinse and repeat three times in the finals.

Flag number 16 is only weeks away.
Firm in the belief that number 17 flag is only months away...

I agree with all of that Laddy, except I very much doubt Nick Daicos will play week one of the finals. If we win the first final it will enable Nick to have another 2 weeks to be cherry ripe for the prelim.

A punting pal says some 'bookies' have got the Bombers to win at around $6. So the bookies think it will be an easy win for the mighty Pies.

I wish you are right Sir Bookies.

Pies to win by 60 points!

I don’t usually buy into selection conversations but I am hoping McInnes gets a recall as a third tall this week. Fly talks about being better than the grade and Reefs last couple weeks in the VFL have been excellent ( albeit lowly VFL teams ) He’s finding different ways to hit scoreboard ( ground balls, snaps ) and he really looks to be on song with his goal kicking. The selectors will probably want Howe back there until Moore’s return and if Reef is going to show anything at AFL standard in 2023, it should be against the Essendon backline. Alternatively, if Howe does remain forward and the McInnes opportunity doesn’t eventuate, then you can virtually guarantee Howe is set to remain forward for the remainder of the this season.

Out: Murphy Elliott Hill Ryan

In: JDG McInness Carmicheal McRae

If reports are true that Elliott has done some what of a suspected injury and is in Sydney ill keep him out till week 1 finals. Murphy from reports to miss essendon and back week 1 finals.
Still out Hill i would not risk him if its a hamstring.
Ryan concussion protocols
Time to bring in stars from the VFL in Carmicheal McInness and even Fin McRae.
As on the injury thread Murphy will be laid up fro 2 weeks and Elliott has a suspected injury as well.
Good news on Nick Daicos and back on light jogs and even having a kick of the footy yesterday i saw him doing some laps around aia with a ball in hand.
Moore is tracking well too.
But time to give the vfl stars a good go v essendon.

Not only that, but the margin is $2.20 for 1-39 and $2.30 for 40+!

Be a frustatrating game v essendon.

I still think unless we inject some kids we will be flat again ala Hawks and Lions game.

We need to smarten up our ball use too and more take the game on.

I agree with many on here, for the overall roaring success this year has been (thus far, overall). The one big area of frustration has been the lack of creativity at the selection table...been very 'rinse and repeat' with the same old players....where is the willingness to give the likes of Reef, Josh, or Finley a real shot at senior game time?

The flip side to my argument i guess is we are number one of the ladder...what more do you want?

But yes I feel like the club could have in the last few weeks been a bit more willing to reward VFL players....and conversely send a message to those in the 22 whos form has dropped away.
