Since DRS has been in the system sadly umpiring and correct calls have gone out the window.

Umpires give out when it’s not and not out when its out.

Hate to burst your bubble but this has been happening for decades before the DSR system was even developed. Part of the raffle of the umpiring trade.

Crazy claim by 23Y. There's no sign the umpiring has got worse. And batters have no reason to complain. They get the chance to review!! They get a second chance batters never got in the old days!

There's no "raffle"! If you run out of reviews (e.g. Oz run out 'cos FTB Smith blows one, reviewing his plumb LBW decision), it's your own fault!!

And we have the insanity of Warner and FTB whingeing when DRS agrees with the ump. Sheesh, how can you whinge when the umpire and DRS both say it was hitting the stumps?


And the DRS rules have always been in the batters' favour. That's why the whingeing of FTB and Warner makes no sense. The scary thing is if the crazy sh** FTB and Warner say misleads the public.

DRS always works to favour the batters.

If the ump gives "not out" and tracking says it's hitting by 3.5cm (3.5cm of ball is hitting wicket), it won't overrule the ump ("umpire's call"). But if the ump gives "out" and tracking says it's missing by 1mm, it overrules the ump ("not out")!!!

Batters have to be really stupid to whinge with those rules. Pity the poor bowlers.

Let's just hope for pitches that are fair to bowlers. Oz pitches for most of the past decade have been a national disgrace. Far too flat. (The one exception was the last Oz Ashes series minus the shameful SCG pitch.)

Yeah, pitches prolly okay. Which of course brings out all the dimwitted FTB fanboy whingers.

Luckily, even Mark Taylor (who's very pro-batsmen) thought the 1st Test pitch was a good one.

Statistically, Taylor is incorrect. Typically, players get hit with about 10 deliveries in the course of a Test. It was 20 (perhaps more) in Perth. The unpredictability of the bounce is what makes a pitch dangerous, not whether you can survive on it or make runs quickly. He's making a category mistake - people were saying that the pitch was phyically dangerous, not that it wasn't "good for cricket". It was certainly entertaining - but we don't like to see batsmen hit on the head so much, these days. It isn't 1974 and Thomson isn't bowling to Fletcher.

The Test of a good cricket pitch is whether a result can be achieved without some ridiculous declaration.

Personally, I hope they roll out a couple of absolute "roads" for the WIndies. I really, really want them to be competitive (IVAR remains my favourite batsman of all time and it is deerply saddening to see how far they have fallen from those heights) - and the last thing competition needs is Cummins getting 25 wickets at an average of 7. Richards made a rdiciulously memorable 50 and high-90s double against Lillee and Thomson at the MCG in the second MCG Test of the 75/6 series. He was remarkable. The current crop, just not so much.
