And yet he’s still not as good as Gawn
Just realise when a ruck touches so many times it’s bad for the team
Teams want there skilful players touching the ball not rucks
Most of his touches are cleaning up his own incompetent ruck taps which fall at his feet and he gets a touch and contested touch
It’s stat padding something he’s down his entire career
Right now the team he’s playing in have won absolutely nothing so right now he’s won absolutely nothing

You obviously missed this post, or you couldn't sensibly have said that:
Pies4shaw wrote:You can't change the goalposts, by the way - your thread alleges "buyer's remorse" on the Swans' part and, along the way, you've asserted that guys who can't get a game, were never competent footballers or don't play in the ruck (and, in some cases, all 3) are better than Grundy. The proof is there, if you're smart enough to consider it: Grundy has thrashed most ruckmen again this season, including Gawn and English (both as usual), and been beaten by none. Moreover, he's warming up and getting back towards full fitness, running out games better and better. Given his power in the physical contest at ground level, no-one who wants to win a Grand Final would pick another ruckman, if they didn't have to. Obviously, Melbourne didn't want to win - and, yes, their Finals record confirms that.

Brodie Grundy has continued to push his case for a first AA blazer since 2019 as the competition's No.1 ruck, with 16 AFL Coaches Association votes in Sydney's past three wins.

At half time Fremantle have 22 clearances from stoppage
18 of those is when Darcy is in the ruck against Grundy
Sydney look bereft of ideas with Heeney Gulden and Warner being soundly beaten
Last week at half time Gulden had 580m gained today 145m
All of Heeney Warner Gulden held below 8 touches each at half time and Sydney down by 27
Only Sydney player looking half decent is McLean but he can’t play forward and kick there goals and be in the ruck so they win clearances as well

^ Grundy dominated the ruck but the midfielders he kept giving it too repeatedly coughed it up when he he gave them first use. They finished up winning the centre clearances - but not to any effect because their usually skilled players spudded it up, big time. Still, he puts up with having to play again in a team with Taylor Adams in it with good humour - I'd be be excising my own liver with a spoon if he was my inside mid.

That comment literally says everything we need to know about your knowledge of the game
Darcy was close to best on
He didn’t just beat Grundy he embarrassed him
The minute Sydney’s mids where nullified it showed how pointless Grundy’s stats are
And you wonder why Sydney are chasing Rohan Marshall
Today answered that question completely

I watched the entire game
Grundy dropped a mark in the last term under no pressure which cost them dearly
The best player in the ground for Sydney was Blakey by the length of the Flemington straight
He was the reason they even got close to winning that game
McLean went forward took marks kicked goals and actually had more clearances won from his ruck work then Grundy did
Grundy at best in that game was average
Go watch the first half again and watch how Darcy owned Grundy
The clearances was around 22-5 at half time by memory
Your kidding if you think Grundy ranked in Sydney’s best 7/10 players against Fremantle

Darcy didn't "own" Grundy. He's just anothder victim - it remains the case that not a single ruckman has got a coach's vote asgainst Grundy all season.
You'e right that Sydney had another good player on the day. Blakey was the other one - you will see that I made that point a couple of days ago in the "Collingwood players still doing the rounds" thread. What I meant here is that Grundy was the only winner they had in the midfield. Grundy was plainly Sydney's second best.
You are also right about McLean - he is such a great ruckman that they had him attend 9 ruck contests in total. From those, he got 1 hitout to advantage.

No wonder Sydney chased Marshall from st kilda
What they wouldn’t have done to have a AFL standard ruckman today
Marshall was unlucky not to kick the winning goal (except for a cruel bounce like in 2010) after he run off Grundy (for the hundredth time)
But he was the difference between winning and losing for them today
Yet again when the swans mids are held or beaten they have no answers

And you know how he got his votes how ?Pies4shaw wrote:^ McLean played forward. He didn't get any votes for attending 9 ruck contests and getting one hit-out to advantage.
The relevant metric remains that not one single ruckman in the AFL has received an AFLCA vote in a Sydeny game, other than Grundy (who, of course, has 40).
He got his votes for his overall game which included his time in the ruck when Sydney actually looked like a side who could win the game but then they needed him forward so they brought in there second stringer and game was over again
