Funny thing is that I can’t remember what I had for lunch yesterday but can remember Collingwood players names since 1972 when I started barracking for them after the family emigrated to Australia from Sri Lanka.
I memorised the numbers from the footy record which I religiously bought every week.
Often I would ask my brother or mates to test me and most of the time I would get it right.

This is everything that I love about being a supporter of this Club. That's a pure sentiment from the heart.
If I'm 14 or 54, my passion doesn't change.

Maybe a topic for another thread, but given your heritage, I'd love to know more details on how you decided the Pies were better than cricket?...

By the way, the first player of Sri Lankan heritage in the AFL was Enrico Misso who played at Essendon and later at St. Kilda.

I was born into a Collingwood family in 1941 & listened to story’s of our greatness
Both my parents met around the time of the 1930 premiership & actually seeing the 4 in a row
I started going as a 10 yr old in 1951 and finals were basically a “cakewalk “

We walked to the G (lived close Fitzroy pool) and at 6am lined up to buy tickets
Got in and always on the fence which we decorated
And then later the greatest Grand Final win in 1958 to stop those Redlegs taking our 4 in a row
Loved them then. Love them now

Mum and dad were both queenslanders. Mum picked essendon dad picked Collingwood as the blokes at his work (at Essendon Airport) basically said follow the pies or you are out. I remember loving Ronny Wearmouth as a young lad and followed dad’s choice.
